31 July - Angers

Today we are exploring Angers starting with the Chateau and importantly the fantastic tapestry.

19th July - Canal du Midi

Spent first part of day rideing down to the lake and find a road route for the van. Went to see Jane and she suggested we go canoeing on the lake at 3pm. She gave us some very large figs which we ate for lunch. Had a 1 hour paddle around the lake, about a mile in altogether.
At about 5pm the drove back to the canal harbour and parked in a new spot as we had been annoyed by a French camper lady who accused us of spoiling her view.
Later on we had a great meal at a nearby restaurant.

10th July - The ferry and first night at Veulletes sur Mer

P&O text'd us to say there was a holdup as 14 people were found inside a tanker and there would be delays. I'm writing this waiting for the ship.
Dee and Adrian were also delayed on an earlier ferry but are now boarding.  Police and fire engines everywhere. The van water Guage is still working!

Ok. . we have now embarked about an hour late and sipping a very welcome latte. Very noisy ferry full of French kids who seem happy to be going home.

Drove on from Calais to Veulletes sur Mer to meet up with Dee and Adrian. 

Getting ready

Ok. Now have the van ready filled with water after Stilton tablets flush out. Pumped up tyres to 60psi. Just waiting for Dee and Adrian now who are coming later this evening with their van. Also carefully stored my Allo Allo outfit for the party at Rels in August. 

Dee and Adrian are now here!

Van preparations

We are packing up and getting ready to leave for about 6 weeks away in France and probably Spain too with our friends Dee and Adrian. So far the van needed coolant and the house solar system has been overheating in this very hot weather. A bit worrying really just before our trip.
Apart from that most other things are under control and I have briefed my friendly neighbour Pete to look after the garden.
